The FAU Career Center facilitates presentations for a variety of classes, organizations, departments and groups from the FAU community. If you need a guest speaker or if you are unavailable to teach a class due to attending a conference or another commitment, rather than cancelling class, please fill out the form below.

Additionally The Career Center can help partner with employers and companies upon request to to present.We are available to present on a variety of career related topics such as, exploring majors & careers, internships, job search, Handshake and applying to graduate school among others. To request a presentation please complete the form below.

Requests should be submitted three weeks prior to the anticipated presentation date.

We try to process your request as quickly as possible and will contact you should we need any further information. While we try to accommodate each request, in rare circumstances we may not be able to assist due to other engagements or conflicts. Keep in mind that we follow Florida Atlantic University’s academic calendar and will be closed during school holidays and breaks.

Introduction to the FAU Career Center

This presentation provides an overview of the FAU Career Center’s services and resources. In addition, students will complete their Handshake account. Handshake is FAU’s centralized online job search portal. When possible, this workshop will be presented at the FAU Career Center classroom (capacity 25). This allows your students a chance to see the FAU Career Center.

Deciding a Major or Career

This workshop is meant to help students learn how to use this online resource in order to identify personal interests and their relationships to FAU Majors and potential career paths.

From College to Careers: Building Your Skills

Learn how to utilize the soft skills you are building as a student, in the professional world.

Developing an Effective Resume/Cover Letter

Resume and cover letter need some updating? Let us help! This presentation will help increase your student’s understanding of how their resume and cover letter are used in the job search process and make sure they target their career goals. Your students will learn how to compose a resume that reflects their greatest strengths and talents and explore different resume formats. By the end of this presentation their resume will say, "interview me!"

Personal Branding and Networking

Learn how to create a professional LinkedIn profile and effectively use LinkedIn, as a job search and networking tool by attending an interactive workshop. You will receive a brief overview of how to utilize LinkedIn, see examples of complete LinkedIn profiles, then be able to build your own profile. You are welcome to bring laptops/tablets or an iPad will be provided for you to use for the workshop. This presentation is ideal for all audiences, undergraduate and graduate students.

How to Best Prepare for an Interview

Interviews can be scary. Especially when they include questions like the dreaded “Tell me about yourself." Your students can learn how to prepare for and conduct interviews that get the job offer! This presentation addresses general preparation, researching companies, what to expect, and answering behavior-based and other tough, important interview questions.

Conducting an Effective Job/Internship Search

Students will be guided through how to develop job/internship search strategies including advice for research, search techniques, and creating a career action plan.

Applying to Graduate/Professional School

This workshop is designed for current undergraduate students who are considering graduate school and for those who may be in the process of applying to different graduate school programs. Topics include what you should consider with the graduate school selection process as well as tips on what to expect in the application process.

How to Best Prepare for a Career Fair

Career fairs are an excellent opportunity to connect face to face with employers and make a good impression. This presentation addresses everything from how to dress, the most effective way to research companies and how to sell yourself so you get noticed.

Employer/Company Classroom Presentation

The FAU Career Center can assist you with finding employers to present curriculum based presentations. Employers can present on a variety of topics including Developing an Effective Marketing Strategy, Business Ethics, Leadership vs. Management and more. Requests should be submitted four weeks prior to the anticipated presentation date.
