Medical Program Overview

The BS/MD Program at Wilkes Honors College is a highly selective, early admission program into The Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine for students who have a strong desire to pursue a career in medicine. Students receive a B.S. degree from the Wilkes Honors College in Jupiter and the M.D. degree from Florida Atlantic’s College of Medicine in Boca Raton in seven or eight years.

Admission is open to highly qualified incoming Wilkes Honors College freshman students.Those accepted into the BS/MD Program at Wilkes Honors College are offered conditional admission to the College of Medicine. Students must successfully complete the program requirements and achieve a minimum qualifying MCAT score. Minimum Requirements for Entrance: Fall 2025 (Subject to Change)

ELIGIBILITY

  • SAT score of 1490 or a minimum ACT composite of 33
  •  Weighted high school GPA of at least 4.3
  • Application is open to high school seniors
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident status

APPLICATION

  • To be considered for the BS/MD Program, you must submit your Wilkes Honors College or FAU application no later than 11:59 PM, EST on Monday, November 25, 2024 to FAU Undergraduate Admissions as a Freshmen/First Year Student. 
    • *Applicants must apply for admission first, complete the Self-reported Student Academic Record (SSAR) and submit test scores. All of this must be done in your Future Owl portal. Once you have satisfied the minimum GPA and test score requirements, the BS/MD Supplemental Application becomes available in the same portal (Future Owl portal) where you linked your SSAR and reported your test scores. (Please allow 24 hours from the time you self-report your grades via the SSAR.) 
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) and Letter of Recommendation (LOR) from a counselor or high school teacher must be emailed to faubsmdprograms@jsxfjn.com no later than 11:59PM EST on Monday, December 2, 2024.
  • Admitted to Wilkes Honors College of Florida Atlantic

Remember: Although you can apply to both university and the BS/MD Program in parallel (i.e. at the same time), you will need to be admitted to Wilkes Honors College of Florida Atlantic to be able to take part of the program.
  

 

IMPORTANT DATES FOR 2024-2025

  • SEPTEMBER 9, 2024 - Application opens
  • NOVEMBER 25, 2024 - FAU and BS/MD Application due
  • DECEMBER 2, 2024 - CV and LOR due by 11:59PM EST
  • DECEMBER 3, 2024 - JANUARY 13, 2025 - Program Committee reviews applications
  • JANUARY 16 - 27, 2025 - Invitations to interview will be sent to applicants
  • FEBRUARY 2025 - Interviews will be conducted virtually
  • MARCH 2025 - Decisions released to applicants
